About Mike Bravener . . .
Growing up in Southern Ontario, Mike would spend a lot of time at his grandparents cottage in Johnson's Harbor. Just outside of Owen-Sound, Mike would spend his days fishing, exploring and listening to old '78 records and, in later years, 8 track tapes of some of the great country and western, rock-a-billy, and rock recording artists ever. It was this influence that engraved a deep love for classic country and rock-a-billy on Mike's soul.
Mike is perhaps better known as "Elvis" in and around the Fredericton area. His tribute shows have taken him all over New Brunswick, and into Nova Scotia, Maine, New York, Wisconsin, Quebec, and southern Ontario. He has won many awards in the last few years for his tribute to Elvis, including the People's Choice Award in Montreal Quebec (2006 and 2007), as well as placing in the top 3 at the world's largest "Elvis Tribute Artist Festival" held annually in Collingwood Ontario(2005, 2006, 2007). He placed 2nd at the 1st annual "Inspirational Elvis" contest also held in Collingwood. Mike has also been a Grand Finalist at "Images Of The King" 2007 held in Memphis Tennessee.
Mike is able to recreate the energy and innocence of Elvis' 50's, 60's performances as well as the rockin', bluesy feel of Elvis' Vegas years. Mike has a minimum of 2 costume changes for his shows and passes out scarves, teddy bears and Hawaiian leis as a part of his act.
Mike is also the frontman for an exciting new "Rock-A-Billy" group known as "Mike Cadillac And The Rockin' 88's". They are a 5 piece band that play Rock-A-Billy the way it was meant to be played! Raw, energetic, toe-tapping, and pure fun with a touch of sin; this new band have already been getting rave reviews on the East coast, where they have been reigniting this classic genre of music. In 2008 they performed on the East Coast Music Award "Discovery Stage", and have been selected to appear at Eastern Canada's largest jazz and blues festival in September at the Hoodoo Tent.
In April, Mike and the band recreated portions of Elvis' famous 1968 Comeback Special starring Elvis' original drummer D.J. Fontana. Also appearing on stage at Fredericton's Playhouse were the Bonnie Kilburn Dancers and a small gospel choir. For almost 2 hours the show transported people back to NBC studios 1968. D.J. himself commented that this show was "One of the best I have ever seen!"
